Flowers are Back

Today was Constitución Day so Jen and I headed out to the trails.  We were shooting for 25k but ended up doing 20 - the elevation gain kicked our butt.  My Garmin said 500m gain, but my tracking app on my phone said 633m.  We left Torreón at 8am and were on trail by 9.  It's only 18.7 miles away but seems to take a long time to get out there and started.  Fortunately it was overcast much of the day over us, but some clear sky with amazing cloud formations visible.  All in all on a scale of 1 to 10 I would rate this run as an 11.  It was amazingly beautiful.

We ran the abejas loop with a side trip to suspiros and then went 2k farther out before returning.

The plethora of nests amazes me and yet I have never seen a bird in one.  At one point I was pointing out every nest I saw, shouting out nest repeatedly.  Jen yelled at me saying my job was to watch for snakes, I was leading.  hmm, hadn't really thought about that.

Clouds were amazing

These flowers are beautiful and in full bloom.  The desert never ceases to disappoint
.

This was the weirdest thing - it's hollow and has all these holes.  What is it?

Rabbit hole?

What caused this round hole?

Maybe the best picture I've ever taken

Who are you and why are you in my garden?  Would love to see this in bloom - it's the only one I've seen.  I was on a different section of trail today.

Pretty sure this picture says all that is needed to be said.  Ouch.
