Wren Falls

What a beautiful day.  It was sunny and 50 when I got to the intersection of the North Country Trail (NCT) and Casey Sag Rd. and proceeded to head for Wren Falls.  This is a beautiful section of the NCT.  It used to be super difficult - the trail was hard to follow but they did a reroute last year or the year before and now it's super easy to follow .  The snow is almost all gone, just a few spots with snow.  10.4 km today.  5 trail runs in the last 7 days.  Life is good.

I've ran this section of the trail many times and have rarely ever seen anyone, hell other than bear training their dogs I've only seen 1 other vehicle on Casey Sag Rd.  Welcome to the times of Covid - 19.  When I got to the falls, 5.2 km there were 2 couples on ATV's there (that's a first) and then on the way back I ran into 3 young ladies hiking.  I stayed at least 8' from them and we talked for a minute.  One of them has poured beers for me at the Cold Iron.  I didn't think anything of it at the time but when I got back to the road there were 3 other cars there.  I think they arrived separately  and I think they were well spaced out on the trail (like I said I didn't think anything of it at the time).  All assumptions of course as people in those cars could have arrived and went on the trail in the opposite direction.  When I pulled off of Casey Sag Rd onto the highway another car turned onto Casey Sag Rd.

All in all it was a great run.

The scenic overlook.

That must have been an embarrassing mistake.

Wren Falls from above - I have no desire to get closer just to take a picture.

I'm constantly amazed by the 'work' that the Pileated Woodpeckers can do.
