First time back to Montereycillo this school year - it won't be the last.
Every time I come here I see or experience something different. Jen and I ran the las abejas loop and it was like I saw it for the first time. The flowers were totally different. There was also the bizarre "I can't hop grasshoppers" who are amazingly beautiful. Then there was the rattlesnake - Jen was leading and I was following a tad too close. She wasn't really watching where she was going and damn near stepped on a sleeping rattler and I damn near knocked her over (onto said snake) when she came to a screeching halt. The snake just wanted to get the hell out of the way. It was 14km of beautiful bliss - I love this place.
