All Roads Lead to Where I'm Going

All Roads Lead to Where I'm Going.  Either the most insanely stupid thing I've said or the most insanely insightful thing I've said.

Jen and I ran 20k today in Montereycillo and had a great time, although it was tough.  The plan was to do the Abejas loop and add Suspiros.  We took off and at 4.9k we decided to try a new trail (for us) and hung a sharp left.  It went up to a plateau that offered a beautiful view of the countryside.  This trail took us to the trail to the chapel and we ran that trail until we hit 10k and then turned around.

The flowers are now almost non existent but the plants are still green.  We saw no rabbits or rattlesnakes (good thing).  We still saw some struggle hoppers - they do fly gracefully though.  The thing new that we saw was some vultures - not sure why they were there, but we saw them up close and personal.  All in all it was a great run in an amazingly beautiful place.

I expected to take very few pictures - yeah, that didn't happen.

I'm sore and tired and I have a 5k tomorrow - 5k's are the toughest.  I need to run hard as I'm doing a 5k as part of a triathlon relay with a student in two weeks and I don't want to suck - she is doing the swimming and biking, clearly she is much tougher than me

This picture was taken with settings that alter the colors - the picture below is reality

Lots of pictures of the Struggle Hoppers - the struggle is real - but they can fly and in flight they are beautiful as the red under their wings is visible - OK, even not in flight they are beautiful, hence the plethora of pictures

Not many flowers out at this time of the year, but yes - I will find them

Selfie with a camera

Another Struggle Hopper - truly their struggle is real

Love in the insect world

I'm pretty sure we ended up at the top of that plateau - looking at the picture makes me question it though

Given we are only 18 miles from my house and maybe 10 from the metropolitan area of close to a million people it stands to reason not all vistas are beautiful - and yes, for an industrial society power plants are essential

I love these nests - alongside the trail seems strange, but they are cool, nestled in plants with huge ass thorns

beautiful and amazing and unbelievable

another flowering desert plant

hard fall, no bones broken - it sucked though

Can't help myself - the flowers in the desert are amazing - can't wait till spring
