I did 16 gravel miles on my fat tire bike today

This pic is from an earlier ride this week.

The colors are amazing. They get better by the hour. I'm guessing the flowers are almost done so I took my last pictures of flowers till next year (probably). Today's ride was 16 miles of pure soul cleansing fun. Temp was 56 to 58 degrees with a tad bit more wind than I prefer.

Colors

I did 25 miles of fat tire awesomeness today in Gogebic County MI. It was a combination of gravel, 2 track, forest road (hard packed dirt/sand), atv/snowmobile trail and a tiny bit of single track. The weather was perfect. Temps were in the 70's, virtually no wind and not a cloud in the sky. Easily, in my opinion, the nicest day of the year. My pictures do not in any way truly capture how beautiful it was today. The view from the scenic overlook from the top of Bald Mountain. Awesome view but somewhat hazy. It was about a mile climb up - I rode the brakes the whole way down. I'm pretty sure the 16 year old me would have flown down at top speed, and probably crashed. Amazing how much green there still is, depending on your location.

Cerro de la Silla (Saddle hill)

For the last year or two Benny and I have talked about going to Monterrey to climb Cerro de la Silla. This past weekend it happened. Sunday we climbed to the top. Cerro de la Silla (Saddle Hill) rises above Monterrey and has a distinctive saddle shape - there are two peaks. We climbed Pico de las Antenas and the Next time we will climb Pico Norte. We arrived at the park at 6am and there was already a bunch of people there starting up the trail - to say the least we were perplexed - all these people are going to the top? Tough wrapping our brains around that one. The red arrow points to where we climbed - next time we go to the other peak. The trail was tough - wide and much of it had rough concrete surface while the rest was rocky technical trail (unrunnable) although given the elevation gain it was all unrunnable. Still the question was nagging us - where were these people headed? We stopped for a breather - the views were oft...

Fall Colors and Waterfalls

Today did a short 11 mile ride. I parked my car between the two waterfalls and biked to both the waterfalls. It was another gorgeous day. I followed up my ride with a socially distanced beer, outside, at the Cold Iron Brewpub - not sure what's going to happen when it's too cold to sit outside for a beer. I am so fortunate to live in an absolutely gorgeous area. Foster Falls Another shot of Foster Falls On my way to Foster Falls I found a two track and yes, I had to check it out.
