Day 1 Creel - adventure of a lifetime

Today I got up at 3:45 - why I have no idea.  I needed to be at the train station by 5am to buy my ticket but it was only a 5 minute taxi ride.  I planned to uber but the guy watching the parking area asked if I wanted a taxi.  I asked how long for him to get here and his response was basically now - maybe waited 30 seconds.  Good thing I got there by 5 as the first 3 people in line took 30 minutes to get there tickets.  Don't know what the snafu was but took me 2 minutes.  The line behind me was growing though - hoped they all made it.  The train ride was nice - love the meal car on trains because you never know who you will be seated with - was with a young couple and a gal from D.F. who is a year older than me, retired, and working on her masters.

I arrived in Creel at 11:19 (1 minute early) and was supposed to be met by someone from the hotel - I was there, they were there, but we didn't meet.  I walked the 3/4 mile to the hotel and checked in - the owner gave me directions and by 12:25 I was running.  Had a memorable 20k run to the valley of the monks - it was freaking awesome.

Valley of the frogs, there is a definite resemblance.

My goal was to get the valley of the monks - mission accomplished, the following pics are from there - took directions from the hotel owner and asking people along the way, but I made it.  Elevation of 2,400 meters with a 265 m elevation gain to the valley made it tough, but oh so worth it.
