Day 5 Creel - Thankful for this beautiful country to explore - an adventure of a lifetime

Thanksgiving and a time to reflect.  I'm truly thankful for (in no particular order): family, friends, my amazing students, good health, Deb and the opportunity to live and travel in this amazing country - Mexico you are beautiful beyond belief.

Today my goal was to visit the big guy at the top of the hill and then to see where the trails would take me.

My run in 35 seconds

Creel as seen by the big guy

As I was starting to head down in search of a trail I saw the ubiquitous yellow arrow - it's pointing down so there must be a trail above.

Had two choices and selected this trail - I love the pine needle covered trails.  Sadly this trail ended and I had to backtrack - and of course  no yellow arrows.

Took the other trail and it ended at a cliff - looks like the yellow arrows are just a joke

On the way back I stumbled on this trail leading down, of course I took it

And of course there is that yellow arrow - someone told me that these arrows are from a mtb race.

It was a tough descent on foot - on a mtb? no thanks

Got down the bluff and back on a rough back road and after a few kilometers I found this - somebody is really messing with me.

I got off the road and on to a trail - mostly single track and just beautiful, serene and quiet.

Strangely this trail was marked very well (except for a few spots) with this.  This trail took me back to Creel.

I think that an enterprising person could market this area as a mountain bike/trail running/hiking meca.  There are no maps of the trails and the trail markings are lacking to say the least.  There are so many trails and so many amazing views.  Sadly what happens is that people take these tours to beautiful areas, get out of the bus/van and walk around for 15 minutes and then off to the next sight.  This area has so much potential for the silent sports
