Drift North

Post Run Beer.  I'm guessing the temp by the lake was about 40 degrees.

Did 10k on the North Country Trail today.  Ran from the Copper Peak Trailhead to Black River Harbor - Since this section of the trail runs north and I was doing a point to point (most of my runs are out and back) I decided to finish the run with a Drift North IPA from the Cold Iron (local brewpub).  I was after all 'drifting' north.  This section of the trail runs along the Black River and has 5 nice waterfalls - 4 of the 5 waterfalls require you to take stairs to the viewing platforms for good views - I chose to ignore the falls today.  I worry that the authorities will just shut things down if there are too many people in too small of an area.  I was happy with my trail.

I had only 1 human encounter, I really should start carrying pepper spray.  I don't like dogs, actually I hate dogs of people I don't know.  If I know you, and trust you, then I'm able to trust your dog.  If I'm running on a trail and your dog is off leash and jumps on me then it's time for pepper spray.  If your dog is on a leash I'll make sure I'm far enough away from said dog that it can't jump on me.  Needless to say these people, fucking idiots, had no control over their dogs, and yes they were jumping on me and did not seem very friendly at all - rant over.

The first third of the trail had quite a bit of snow, maybe 25 percent of the first third was snow covered.  Many sections of the trail were very runnable and very little of the trail required walking.  It was a gorgeous day and a great run.

Not sure where all these people were - not on the trail.  Most of them I assume were fishing.  Talked to one guy who was kayaking with a friend.  They would run the kayaks up stream and drop them off, drive their car back and then bike back to their kayaks.
